FAQs

How do you make your frames?

Each frame is made entirely by hand, using traditional tools and techniques. Every timber is hand-selected, measured, drawn upon, and chipped out with expert care. This process makes each building a unique work of art.

How do I assemble my frame?

We provide explicit instructions and drawings for your own carpenter or contractor to assemble on site, upon the foundation of your choice. We even provide every hand-carved wooden peg or dovetail blocks needed for a fully traditional assembly without the use of metal fasteners. Working with your own professional will ensure the best assembly using the proper equipment. It also allows you to fully customize the building’s finishes to match your own property.

Will you do the complete building for me?

The Small House Project is not a contractor or carpenter for hire. Instead, we strive to provide artistan created timber frames that any quality carpenter can assemble and finish to your liking. This method is meant to alleviate the expense of having an expert craftsman performing basic carpentry work. It also allows our company to focus our skills on creating the most beautiful timber frames possible. However, there are occasional projects that we may take on in a case by case basis. You may contact us via email with any inquiries, we are always happy to consider new ideas and projects.

Will you create a custom frame for me?
